CONSTRUCTION: MAKING A TUMBLR

I have made a Tumblr blog for our film to be able to engage with our audience and keep them updated with the latest events of our film. Teasers of the trailer being made, character profiles and release dates will be posted on this blog.

HERE IS A LINK TO MY TUMBLR PAGE.

I read an article on why films should be promoted on Tumblr and it brought up important points about the significance of Tumblr in our younger societies. Here is a quote from the article, "Tumblr is growing exponentially, Donia points out, citing one report that puts Tumblr ahead of Wikipedia in monthly page views. It turns out Tumblr is also a very active sounding board late at night and on weekends, times when other social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter, are relative ghost towns. " This conveys that lots of people view Tumblr and it should not be forgotten when promoting a film, especially a film like mine which is targeting a younger audience. HERE is a link to the Article.

PLANNING: DIGITAL STORY BOARD

Digital Storyboard

I used a digital storyboard which is linked HERE. I decided to look into a digital Storyboard as it would be a more quick and efficient way of doing a storyboard.

However, I will not be using this as I prefer to have more freedom with the storyboard, which you have when it is written by hand.

In conclusion, finding this online storyboard was a good experience and a fun variation to the handwriting version, but I think that it is a more creative and easy to handwrite it.

PLANNING: OUR TREATMEANT

What is a Film Treatment

A film treatment is a piece of prose and its the first draft of a screenplay for a Film.

WORKING TITLE: No Title

The topline: four students A, B, C and D in need of some quick cash respond to an advert for being guineau pigs in medical research. They report to a lab and chat nervously. Soon they are prostrate on beds, in patient gowns, being injected / swallowing tablets under the watchful eye of two doctors. A cutaway shot suggests some hallucinatory experiences. The trailer cuts to student A in his /her ktichen the next morning suddenly receiving a text. The phone screen looks like a game with a challenge / task. The screen goes black. Student A feels compelled to follow the instructions. She is told to break a few laws on the way (such as steal money from her mother's handbag, snatch a scooter left on the pavement, throw a stone at a window). She is surprised at her own behaviour.

Her task is to surprise a stranger by breaking into their house. She finds that the stranger's house belongs to person B. They exchange greetings. A text arrives simultaneously on both their phones, instructing them with the next task. This one is harder. It involves persuading someone to take a high-level selfie. The screen goes black. They carry out the task. The person falls to their death and they realize that they are in the power of a mind control drug.

The big question: will the students resist the mind control drug before further challenges cause further traumas?

RESEARCH: TRAILER ANALYSIS (FILM EDUCATION) - THE GREAT GATSBY (2013)

In today's lesson I analysed The Great Gatsby using Film Education's website to help. Below is the trailer for The Great Gatsby and my analysis of the trailer.

The Great Gatsby is a romantic film which is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel. The film was co-written and directed by Baz Luhrmann, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the main character: Jay Gatsby.

RESEARCH: FILM EDUCATION - TRAILER MAKER

In today's lesson I created a trailer at Film Education which is a charity supported by the UK Film Industry. It supports and promotes the use of film within the curriculum. Click HERE to view the trailer that I created. Also I used the Film Education website to help me analyse trailers with its useful tips and worksheets. A trailer is an advertisement for a feature film that will be exhibited in the future at a cinemas or online (Netflixs). Creating a trailer with Film Education gives me more practice with creating my own trailer. Also, it teaches me how to create a narrative arch with short and fast-pace clips.

Here is the website: Film Education

Above is how I created the trailer with the software provided by Film Education.
